J Profile Painted Kitchen
This is a kitchen diner so needed to be something a little special. The aim was not to make a feature of the extractor over the hob, a necessity but not always the aesthetic you wish your eye to be drawn too. I lifted the wall units to give the appropriate clearance and built the extractor within the unit be-spoking the cabinetry to take a finger pull detail to the front edge with inbuilt Led strip that runs the full length of the units and not stopping either side of the extractor. The position of the extractor meant I was unable to mirror the units below in widths and took the opportunity to make a real feature with lift up bifolding doors. The grain on these being continuous and all cut from one board.
The room has a vaulted ceiling meaning the larder units and cooker tower could be extra height. The style of the doors are handleless with a J profile groove running along the top edge. Whilst I could have purchased this style of doors painted to order by one of my suppliers, I would have struggled with the larder door height and standard height limitations meant an extra break or infill in the door would be needed. There is a situation and reason for every design option all needing consideration and influenced by the budget. The height was required over a break/ infill detail, so I made and sprayed the same style of door. All on soft close hinges and with soft close metal drawer boxes and larder storage.
Worktops are fabricated from Corian with integrated underslung sink and drainage grooves. This is quite dark so have rather than tiles or splash backs matching the worktops have contrasted with a composite aluminum Alusplash for some much needed colour.
This Kitchen is somewhat special to me, it’s for me and my much forgiving other half. I wasn’t going to add this as I feared it might change people’s opinion. This kitchen was created in my evenings and weekends and was developed in the same way every job is, built around the needs and dreams of each customer. The same level of thought and pride goes into every job I do, even for the pickiest perfectionist of customers, ME!
